Fort Worth, TX April 8, 2019 - The cities of Fort Worth and Arlington both signed proclamations to recognize the week of April 8 as National Boys & Girls Club Week in honor of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County joins hundreds of Clubs across the nation in a celebration that highlights the importance of out-of-school time and invites supporters to join Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Catalyst for Change network to take action on important issues impacting our nation’s youth.
“We are grateful to both the City of Arlington and City of Fort Worth for this proclamation and for recognizing the import work we do with at-risk youth in Tarrant County,” said Daphne Barlow-Stigliano, CEO & President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County. “Last year, we served more than 23,000 children and teens, and we see every day the impact we make on these kids’ lives.”
The organization kicks off the week at Arlington City Hall as Daphne Barlow-Stigliano, alongside members of the Board of Directors and representatives of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Arlington and the 2019 Cinderella Candidates, receives the City’s Proclamation. Throughout the week, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County will continue to celebrate with activities in their Clubs to showcase how the Club’s programs are equipping the youth in our community with the soft and hard skills they need to succeed in life. This year’s celebration focuses on anti-bullying, equity & inclusion, career readiness and Youth Development Professionals.
Since 1941, the Boys & Girls Club Movement has celebrated National Boys & Girls Club Week by recognizing the invaluable service Clubs bring to communities and sharing how great futures start at Boys & Girls Clubs. National Boys & Girls Club Week promotes the fact that while Clubs operate on a local community level, they are also part of a growing national Movement that supports and advocates on behalf of kids and teens every single day.
